Smokin weekend....

First I rubbed my meat...


Then I smoked my meat...


Then I pulled my meat...


Then I ate my meat...


8lb pork shoulder...went in the drum at 6:30am, foiled & in the cooler 3:30pm for 2 hours. Turned out friggin awesome!

Looks awesome! Once I figure out my smoker situation, I'm going to try a pork shoulder - I've been wanting to cook one for a while now!

Thanks. I built an Ugly Drum Smoker...got maybe $100 in it and it does an awesome job! It held temp with no adjustment for the entire cook.

I thought that looked like a homemade UDS. If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the food grade drum? That's the only thing holding me back from building one.

I don't mind. There's a place right up the road from me that sells barrels and drums for burn barrels, firepits, etc. Mine was used for storing honey, I got it for $15. http://www.104barrels.com/ I've no idea if they ship though. Maybe try lookin on Craigslist for someone selling them?

That's pretty cool - self-service barrel dealer! They do ship. I'll start checking Craigslist and if I have no luck, I'll look into ordering. Thanks!

Edit: I notice the Black Lager in the background. How do you like it? I found that, while I like it, nothing really beats the regular Guinness...

Yeah, real nice guy. I dunno what it'd cost to ship an empty barrel...might not be too horrible I guess? I like the Black Lager quite a bit. I love Guinness, the Black Lager is a nice change and I suppose it goes down a little "easier" on a good hot day.

Thanks man, I love it. It held temp within 10 degrees for the entire 10hr cook without any problem too. So simple to build and they work great!

I have heard you can get a old 55 gallon drum,(that had Molasses in it) from feed stores after they use them to make sweet feed for horse,cows etc.
