Anything can be cooked on a grill or smoker.

That sounds really good.
Maybe next weekend.

most all of the meatloaf recipes I have ever read talk about using Ketchup.

My family has been using Chile Sauce since way before I was born.

It is thicker than ketchup and makes for a much better topping on meatloaf in my book.

Tom see this too if you haven't.

The Italian sausage and ground beef mixture is already an excellent mix, being smoked just makes it sound extraordinary

I had the worst meatloaf of my life here a few months ago. There is a restaurant called Ric's Kountry Kitchen, supposed to be an American home cooking place. Usually it has some decent things but I tried the meatloaf and that will never happen again. It had a weird consistancy and was made with a brown gravy. Where I'm from it's tomato sauce of some kind or the chile sauce as phit mentioned.

PT, I had some from Lizards Thicket a while back because I had heard people bragging on how good it is.
Plus I had noticed that they are crowded on Wed. which is meatloaf day.
It was awful, mostly because of the sweet crap that they put on top of it.
I don't know what they use but it is like a sweet Salsa.
Yuk.

has anyone tried adding a little Jalapeno to a meatloaf ?

My brain keeps saying that would be very interesting.

ptwhaler 08-24-2012 12:53 AM

Phit, Lizard's Thicket is good for some things, but definitely not meatloaf. The place was pretty good 25 years ago but now that they have grown and spread througout the city it's just not all that good anymore.

Wish I could post my wife's meatloaf recipe but she never makes it the same.
She adds this and that while tasting it. Yes that is right she eats the raw hamburger while she makes the meatloaf.
I never knew what Steak Tartare was untill I met her.

In Belgium they make a sandwich with seasoned raw hamburger. I hear it's good but I was too much of a chicken to try it.
