Food, drinks and cooking chat.

New to this area of the forum, had NO idea there was a Q and grilling section!

Figure this is a good place to share some food, recipes, and brews

Dinner last night, a couple bone in chops with rub some butt, finished with American stockyard Memphis Red and some redskins with John Henry old stockyard imageuploadedbyag-free1401634324.823375.jpg

And lunch a few days ago, spatchcocked chicken with plowboys fin and feather imageuploadedbyag-free1401634413.490333.jpg

Demo cook for one of my dealers, London broil with my personal marinade, a couple of pork tenderloins with my home marinade, grilled pineapple, and a spatchcocked chicken with BGE viva caliente imageuploadedbyag-free1401634484.796754.jpg

Look forward to getting to know those of you that I don't already

I'm an egghead, which took me from 7 years in the auto industry into distribution now for big green egg in Ohio and Michigan. Deal in other stuff too, but egg is where my heart's at.

I've never used a BGE but I hear wonderful things about them.

Welcome to the smokey side of the fence!

That's like asking why Currie vs Rough Country.

Lifetime warranty on the egg, stainless steel draft door that is fully operation from wide open to shut, vs 1-4 settings on the China model. Same with exhaust, quality fully removable cast iron on the egg vs several settings from a powder coated and plastic version on the China model.

Beyond the far superior temp control of the egg, you'll never need to replace. Lowe's will see you again in a year or two, like they always do.

My wife works at Lowes. But i can tell you Moll is dead right. their grills are total junk. She brought home a rather expensive piece of JUNK. it lasted maybe one year. freeking nobs melted . regulators never worked. total poss. My dog even knows it. He did a 360 of the side of house and tacoed it landing on the cr2p. ended up giving it away to someone that thinks they can get it to work again.

While the plate setter is technically an accessory, I don't consider it an accessory...every egg needs one, and I wish they'd just sell it with the egg to avoid the confusion of it being considered an option

Welcome Mol, I used to follow your build thread like it was a religion until you went over to the "bigger is better" dark side.

BGE fanatic here, the only one I DON'T love is the small size. It seems to have a design flaw so it has been moved to our hunting camp. Does fine grilling but very hard to control for baking, roasting, or smoking. And no, I don't have any affiliation with the company!

My whole BGE family:
