You cook the pizza with the oven upside down. The lid becomes the bottom that your pizza sits on you cover it with the main body. This way,when it's done and you remove the main body it's easy to get the pizza off the lid since you can get at the sides. Much more of a challenge to retrieve your cooked pizza if you use the oven right side up. The metal tent pegs allow for space under the lid to put your coals.

'course, you could just use two 14" lids with a spacer in between:

I've always just done pizza's in the dutch oven. deep dish style.
