Weekend get-a-way.

So a long weekend this week and I am wanting to take the girl somewhere nice. Anyone have any suggestions other than Ocean ****ty?

Just something to get away. We go to the beach almost every weekend. Its nice to have a free room. But we're looking for something different. Doesn't have to be in state. Was thinking Atlantic city but is gonna be busy for the weekend I bet.

Atlantic City is sketchy I heard, kinda like OC. For a group of buddies, it's fine but to take your GF to some place nice, i'm not sure.

If you want to hit the beach, VA Beach is pretty nice. I enjoyed my trip there with some buddies a few weekends ago.

OBX is more pricey but even nicer i've been told.

Ever been to Long Beach Island in NJ? Very family oriented and lots of shoping plus clean beaches. I used to live there for a couple of years and loved it. There's no boardwalk so there isn't any of the crap that usually comes along with it. You can go to the top of Barnegat Lighthouse and get a great view of the island and there's also a small amusement park that you can also get a good view of the island from their ferris wheel.

Thought for the day:
Some people are like Slinkies... They don't really have a purpose, but they still bring a huge smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.......

Forget the beaches.
Deep Creek
Drive down into the mountains of Virginia / West Virginia, find a nice little motel in some tiny mountain town, and just enjoy the drive and an unusual spot. My wife and I like the Montvallee Motel (http://www.montvalleemotel.com/) in Monterey VA. Some of the scenery in that area is excellent.

I also suggest deep creek. We have a house up there and go up almost every weekend in the summer, I love it there.

Last Mem day weekend, the wife and I packed up the jeep and went to Hatteras (OBX) for the weekend. We camped right among the dunes and it was $12 a night. We were allowed open fires on the beach and had access to showers, etc. Far enough away from everything, but close enough to grab a pizza from the Gingerbread House. Awesome weekend!
