ESJA Spring Mini Show, April 16th,17th 2011!!
That's right. It's that time of year again!!!

Eastern Shore Jeep Association will be hosting a meet and greet at TrapPond State Park in Laurel, DE on Saturday April 16th, 2011, Start time 11:00 a.m.

For those interested we will be cooking food and have beverages on hand. Here is the run-down of the weekend's events!

Show @ trap pond 11:00 a.m. start time. We will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers. Will have soda and water on hand as well as chips.

Admission to the park will be $10 for the meet and greet per vehicle.
Lunch will be $3 and you will get your choice of Hotdog, Hamburger or Cheeseburger, small bag of chips and can of Soda or bottle of water.

The reason for charging admission for the meet and greet at this location is because the club must rent the parking lot. There will be access to volleyball and horseshoe pit's as well, so it should be a fun time all around. Those with families can come out and go biking and hiking as well. We will also be having raffle's such as a gas card, t-shirts, stickers, ect.
We will be holding a Show N Shine at the park with trophies given out to the winners.

The link to Trap Pond can be found here:

Saturday after the show:

After this is over, around 4 or so, those wishing to go wheeling and camping can follow us the 10-15 minutes south to the land we have as a club for camping and wheeling through Sunday. The cost for camping and wheeling is a additional $20 per vehicle as per club bi-laws. If you are an existing club/land member there is no charge to wheel.

Land Info:

It is 60-80 acres depending on who you talk to with about 2 acres cleared for a camping area. There are no amenities at the campsite area, its pack out what you pack in. There may or may not be a Porta-Potty available. There is plenty of space to setup multiple tents. At this time there is a stock trail cut for vehicle's to make it back that are equipped with 4 wheel drive. Last mini show in September we had some pop ups back to the campground. It was tight getting them back there but we were successful in doing so.

More about our land, it is primarily mud obstacles, mud crossings and so on. We have added some technical area's including a flex hills section and a tire obstacle section, as well as other trails that we are working on building that are less mud and more technical, however it is a on-going process.

Here is a lil map of the land. Its not much but its a blast to wheel on!

The food we have left on hand will be cooked for dinner and more can be acquired at the Wawa or Mcdonalds about another 5 mins from the land. Soda and water will be on hand. Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed while at the campsite and no intoxicated individuals will be permitted on the trails. Alcohol will be a BYOB thing.

Land Bylaws:

All persons entering the land, MUST sign a land waiver. All vehicle's wheeling MUST have the following safety equipment:

Tow Strap rated 1.5 times your vehicle weight (or operable winch) (no metal hooks)
Seatbelts for all passengers.
Proper sized spare tire
Fully Charged Fire Extinguisher
Properly mounted front and rear tow points
And Battery Tie Downs, no bungie cords.

This isn't limited to just jeeps, its all 4x4 vehicles (excluding quads).

FYI. This weekend we're getting some new obstacles built. Lets just say we're building what the eastern shore doesn't have naturally.

Hope to see some of you guys there. Only a month away.

How did this go? It sounded cool but I was at work.

VamosJEEP 04-19-2011 06:24 AM

It actually went extremely well.

The show registered about 20 jeeps. Luckily the rain held off for the duration of the show. We gave away a bunch of stuff. Delmarva offroad had brought out there comp buggy with its z06 motor in it  The winning jeep was a black wk. Jager00 is his sn on here. And a honorable mention went out to a black diesel jetta.

After the show we headed out to the land to play and camp. We got a good 1-2 hrs of wheelin in before the skies opened up. Once that happened we went out to eat. The weather passed in about 2 hrs.

Went back to the land to set up camp. Skies were clear and the temp was perfect. We had a nice big fire (we had collected fire wood earlier and covered it before the rain hit) and had a great time.

Sunday the weather was beautiful. We wheeled for a good 6 hrs straight. Including a "kill the cone" course on our flex hills area. We had about 6 jeeps try the course. The times ranged from 3:22 to 7:40. It was mostly for bragging rights this time around but I think we're going to develop it into something really cool down the line. We may even try to incorporate a kill the cone for jeep week! :cheers2:

What was the Jetta's time on the cone course? If I had weekends off I'd join the club.

The time now is 02:10 AM.
