Delaware Beaches

This Memorial Day weekend was my first time driving on the beach. The Jeep went right through the sand without any issues at all after I aired down and shifted into 4hi. Lets see what beaches you all drive on. Judging by the number of Jeeps I saw in Rehoboth/Bethany/Dewy area last weekend, I know there have got to be a decent number of you on this forum. What are some good beaches? I went on Conquest Beach all of the days I was down there. (Just south of the Indian River Inlet) Are there any less crowded beaches then are less known to the general public? I like to sit back, relax with people and toss a football around and fish without having a twenty thousand people around us. Also anyone know any good spots for fishing down there? Any advice is appreciated. Since I live in Northern DE, I am somewhat familiar with the area down there. This year, I'll be able to go down there more often since it is the first summer I can go down there by myself and crash at my buddies' places.

Assateague is a good place for solitude. It cost money for a pass but if you drive a few miles down the beach there wont be anyone around for a mile.

I agree with Yellow XJ. I live just a few miles from Assateague Island so I am over there quite a bit.

I am curious what beaches in the MD/DE area are free. I am not big into fishing but would love to be able to drive my heep out on the beach with the GF and just spend the day on the beach swimming/relaxing/etc. with that said I am not gonna spend the $100+ for an annual pass on assateague just to enjoy a day or 2 a year out on the beach.
does anyone have any suggestions for such a place

Technically any State owned beaches you WILL have to pay to get on.

I know of a few privately owned that I have permission to drive on. Its all about who you know around here.
