i was ages ago. you know, the clodbuster, blackfoot, superbeetle, and lunchbox days. everything seemed to be going more the stadium and race direction, i bought an rc-10st and lost intrest. to me it just wasnt fun, oh and i didnt really want to get into gas. then i bought a t-max when they were pretty new, put a bunch of money into it, and the newer models coming out were way better than what i built. i lost interest again. oh i did buy a lunchbox just for old times, i built it and used it once, my dogs didnt think to highly of it.

The crawlers are pretty neat, esp for you James. You have an RC background already. Top speed on mine is only about 6 mph, but they articulate and crawl like the real thing. Mine is more scale than "buggy" , but that may change soon. To both of you, I got mine for $200 used and built with all good upgrades, they can be found cheap quite often, plus fixing is cheap. My son blew the trans up in mine and for the two gears that blew apart its less than $6 if I upgrade them to aluminum it's only $22.

they definitely lose value fast, some of the stuff anyway. i found with my tmaxx anything that broke i upgraded to billet aluminum, or cast aluminum if price was rediculous. its just a chain reaction, the next weakest link will break. i kind of think you are better off staying with the plasitc junk. i havent seen these crawlers in person, but i know in the last few years they have come out with some real cool stuff.
