Any place to go off road near Bergen County?

Long-time Grand Cherokee owner. Just added a 2012 JK unlimited to the stable. Eager to get off road, but have no idea where to go. Anyone have suggestions for a good place nearby for a beginner? Anyone organized trips? Located in Mahwah. Thnx

Stokes is a pretty awesome place to go for some decent legal(ish) wheeling. The rules there are very strict, STAY OUT OF MUD PITS!, stay on marked trails, no making your own trails, and as always tread lightly! It helps to go with a few people that know the area so you dont stumble into an area where you can get in trouble. All in all Stokes is a great place but a few people think its a free for all and just romp through anywhere they please which ruins it for everyone else.

Unfortunatly there are very few places to legally wheel in NJ.
As has been said Stokes, but you need to know what areas are legal and what are not. Same in Wharton st forest.

Nowhere legal near Mahwah (I live in that area) that I've found so far. Stokes is your best bet if you don't want to be chased away or fined. Stock Jeeps can definitely handle Stokes. JKUs have some trouble with certain spots but that's the whole challenge of wheeling..
