Right hand drive 03Jeep Wrangler

Hi everyone! I'm new here.
I just wanted to reach out to the jeep community. I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler sport that had sat for a couple years. I had my brother-in-law replace a couple things to get it running but now it has a loud knock. He discovered that the main bearings in the engine are shot, and that I could either replace the long block or the engine entirely. He has a bad back so this job is too big for him. I recently took it to a local garage who quoted me $3500 with a used engine or $5000 new engine. Is there anyone in CT that has an suggestions? That price is a bit too high for us. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
