Front License Plate

I searched the DMV for all of 5 minutes because that website is useless(much like the actual DMV). Anyways, recently I have seen a lot of vehicles without front license plates. I know in MA it is illegal, but is it legal in RI?

In RI, front plate is required.

I've been stopped for not having a front license plate. I actually had the plate in the rear cargo area and zip tied it back to my winch fairlead on the spot. The trooper still made me take it to an inspection station then send in "proof" that the plate was attached.

Us Canadians have both front and back. It's the law.
