Where to get started? [MA]

Hey guys. I've owned my jeep for a few years now. It is stock besides the 31" tires, but I've finally been infected by the upgrade bug and will be doing some very mild mods soon, like starting with a body lift. I also would like to start taking the jeep off roads, I just do not know where to go.

First, I would like to start with fire road type stuff. You know, stuff that doesn't require spotters, maybe a small stream crossing, something I could take my girlfriend on and not have her fearing for her life.

I come from a mountain bike background, and we always had group rides once a week and I liked that kind of atmosphere. Was wondering if there was a Jeep equivalent, or if there were some like minded Jeepers who would like to get something started in the area that would be great!

*EDIT* I forgot to add, for those wondering, I am in southern MA

There are many Jeep/4x4 clubs in the area. Some are geared towards stock or lightly modifed vehicles while others are more extreme. Most schedule trail rides at least once per month.

Check out the Northeast Association of 4WD Clubs for options in your area.

Hey Nitroduck, I also live in Mansfield, and I'm also having trouble trying to find a decent, fire road type place to wheel. I swear I've seen your jeep before, have you taken it to the pros car care complex at all?

Hi guys - I'm also in Mansfield. Just picked up a stock '04 Rubi. Don't have plans for it yet, but I'd still like to get off road a bit. If you find a spot and want to go let me know.

Where y'all at in Mfield?

I'm over in east near the town line and Borderland State Park. What color is your rubi? so I can keep and eye out for it.

I'm as far away from you as possible still staying within town lines! We're up past the Country Store in West Mansfield, on the Norton line. The Rubi is black with a gray hard top (when the weather turns cold).
