Many people don't have problems because the state forest EPOs are so thinned out that there is no manpower to enforce those laws.
You can bet however that if they have the time or run into someone where they aren't supposed to be and they have had complaints from the volunteering and license fee paying quad and bike riders, they will react and ticket.

IF you were the ONLY ONE person wheeling on the dirt bike trails, you're right.. ONE person wouldn't make a difference..
BUT... you are ONE of thousands who feel the same way... Just pretty ole me here, no one else... what harm is it doing. Then, at the end of the month after 50 jeeps have run down the bike trail, the state forest officials say.. "Damn, that bike trail has taken a beating, it looks like its environmentally unstable and potentially dangerous, we better close it" and so, they do.. The bikers/quad guys get pissed at the damn jeeps, etc... and the green whackos win... getting closer and closer to having NO public lands available to these polluting, earth destroying machines.
You may think I'm being a bit facetious but if you doubt, I'll post reams of sites that show the Greenies and their heartfelt desire to eliminate our recreation in the woods.. from both public and PRIVATE lands.

Please, avoid the ire of the entire MA/New England wheeling community and do the right thing.
Wheeling illegally isn't a life long problem, one can be rehabilitated..
I'll be the first to admit that I ignorantly wheeled illegally back when I first got my 4Runner, and look at me now...

Talk soon,

So, with my selfish mindset its hard to care for others, but in the future I will try and vouch, and not violate the terms of the trails myself.
Well, for the record, JeepForum does not ever support in any way any actions supporting illegal wheeling of any kind. Further mention of it will get the offenders banned. No pictures, no 'I did this', we don't care. It's illegal.

To show you how stupid what your saying sounds; Poachers feel the same way as you. 'Well, it's only one... They won't miss it... One won't effect the endangered species...' (which in too many cases already, they've proven that one can make all the difference with them. Same with our trails. One bad report of wheeling goes millions of miles in getting our trails further shut down. And you wounder why so many people have to drive 4+ hours to wheel...)

And you're wrong on the one person not messing it up for everyone. One person can. One person DID. Texas rivers are off-limits to all wheeled vehicles now of every type because of, as I heard the legal story, one person and their neighbor. No crossings, no river-runs, not even dry river beds anymore. And the fine is OMG Huge...

How many environment freaks (people who are so stupid they have no idea what is or is not good for the environment, but jump on any wagon that sounds good) sit around the voting places and what not. And how many people for legal wheeling do you think do the same... Ya.. We're almost not even represented at all there so they only hear the one environment side and lately, almost always are shutting down anything at the simple slight request of the e-group.

Just so y'all know, Im not into illegal wheeling. (I read thru the thread and I think I may have inadvertantly started this word war) Ive been sticking to the roads, and I just wanna protect our name. Turtle, I have great respect for you and what you are doing.

Ive heard about "pits" and trails and whatnot off the lines, but I really dont know what to make of all that. Cuz it seems to me to get there u gotta wheel illegally.

One user here on JF was from Ocean State Jeepsters and he said there are roads that lead to other trails and a quarry or something sorry i dont remember exactly. If these areas are still open and legal then why dont we in the area be happy with them?

no point in mods and passion in the sport if we cant use it due to stupidity.

Nothing illegal here, just pictures of the places that TJ was talking about. I was on my friends dirt bike for the day.

Mass is ok, but pretty expensive honestly. Boston has higher paying jobs, but it is EXTREMELY expensive to live there. There's pretty much nothing except for beaches for offroading out in that area.

If you went with something in central/western mass, living cost is cheaper and you would have ALOT more places to wheel. Although that has its downfall too...You would more than likely need to commute into a city such as Boston to make decent money depending on what you do for a living.

Oh okay, I am looking to transfer to Boston State for college and will probably rent a small apartment. I dont want to live in Boston my whole life, but I do want to stay in the state. So I will have to check out central and western mass.

Also, what about the outer areas of boston? I dont mind driving 30 mins for school if it means the rent and living expensives are cheaper.
