Driving Ban

Really? $500 fine or a year in the slammer for driving in the snow storm?

I can see the safety factors, it is good to have the roads wide open for emergency vehicles and snow plows, but don't you think the punishment is a bit extreme?

Has society become so ignorant that this type of hand holding is necessary?

Yes.

Keep voting these clowns into office and it will only get worse.

I love how every news reporter attributes the sortof-empty roads to gov Patrick, they make no mention of the fact that there's a huge snow storm

I wish someone suitable to oversee this state would run for office...not that the majority of the fools in this state would vote for him/her anyways.

Any idea if nh or ri enacted a similar ban?

People were still out driving last night.

BlueRubiconrich 02-10-2013 07:32 AM

the ban was lifted at 4 pm on Sat I didn't care the roads were open and I
was on the road at 3 pm.

NH did not enact any driving bans......

A lot of Massachusetts drivers don't have the sense God gave rocks. The ban was probably a good idea.

Why not let Darwin work his magic?

Unfortunately the Darwin candidates wouldn't just take themselves out...an innocent first responder may be hurt as well.

I feel like it was way too easy for this driving ban to take effect though. Is this going to be something that gets thrown around alot more often now?

How can the success of it even be calculated? What are the "experts" comparing the data to? Most of my friends are local firefighters and EMTs, they still had quite a few MVAs to respond to (some plow trucks, mostly just regular vehicles).

The "expert reports" that the media keep referring to are obviously not put together by the first responders.

I saw a group of kids in a small FWD car, try to make it up a hill on a main street on Saturday around noon. I watched for a minute and when they got out to push it up I just drove around them.

I can see where cars may get stuck and that may put a hold on plows getting through but yea I am for maximum freedom. I could not believe it when I heard about the ban. Do we take freedom away from people with vehicles that can make it through snow just because others cannot make it? Limited government.
