Specifically guys I am trying to find information on the width laws. I found the laws refering to bumper the height requirements. I wanted to make sure a stubby would still be legal and pass inspection.
Thanks,

Width of what? Tires? Don't matter as long as they don't stick out more than .5 an inch from the wheel well or fender flares.
There is a law on the books about not going more than 2 standard sizes above OEM, so many of my club's members have a set of "inspection tires". You'd have to run into a really anal retentive State Trooper to get stopped for tire size. If the rig is legal when inspected, they pretty much leave ya alone when driving. If you get stopped for some other reason, all bets are off.

I have heard of some people getting pulled over for too big of tires. It they were like 37s on a full size dodge. I see larger tires on vehicles quite often hear though so it's pretty much a crapshoot. I'm going to 31s

I've removed the plastic 'milk jugs' from my factory TJ bumpers and it passed just fine this month, this was at the "Sticker Station" in Westbrook, they go by the book in my experience.

Ya I have those off as well. I believe that you only have to have "a bumper" on the vehicle. I don't think the law specifies a width though I may be wrong

As far as fire inspection goes, I have a separate set of 31s I only use for inspection. Normally I have a set of 33s that stick out almost 3" beyond the fender flares.
Just make its legal the day of inspection then change everything over after it passes.
Check engine light stays off for 40 miles if you detach the battery, good loop hole if that's what's holding you back.

I have a Honda that has had the check engine light and the airbag light on for like 3 yrs. Passes every year. It's all who you know. And the law for the bumper just says you have to have a bumper equal or better in strength to the stock one as far as I know

Haha yeah, this was a family friend. I at least make an attempt fix everything either way. Had a cracked mirror and loose emergency brake cable that shouldn't have passed. Inspections are a joke.

Ya they are but they do keep some unsafe rigs off the road. The Honda is safe the CEL is the EGR and the Airbag is a sensor in the drivers seatbelt latch.
