Looking for areas in NH / MA

Hi,
I'm new to the forums. I'm not a hardcore off-roader but i did have a question for my fellow NH/MA residents.
Does anyone know a good area to bring their vehicle to camp out?
preferably woods and doesn't involve heavy offroading (rocking a stock WJ)

Thanks in advanced

You won't find anything in Mass. They are very strict and anti-offroading. As far as NH goes, wheeling is legal on Class VI roads and private property if you have permission. But once you're out on a Class 6 you can't just set up camp anywhere (legally). You'd need landowner permission. Camping is allowed in NH State Parks but vehicular access is often limited.

I'd recommend Northern Maine. Check out the Katahdin Iron Works and Gulf Hagas. This is REAL backwoods camping. Forget about bath houses, recreation facilities, cell phone reception, and all that other crap. You won't be disappointed.

I myself will be up there the weekend of Aug 9-12.

Yeah, very few, and I doubt they'll be open much longer.

best bet is indeed to join a club. I am a member of Baystate Jeepers and we welcome stock to heavily modified Jeeps. there are a lot of great clubs in the NEA I would recomend you check out the forums this link will get you access to a lot of info. http://nea4wd.org/membership/member-clubs

Also ENH.com is a loose group of people that like to wheel class VI that isnt a club per se. Been out with them a few times and they are good people over there...
