Drivetrain shops?
Anyone know of any reputable shops near concord NH to get an axle regear done that won't rape me on the price?

Or even someone who knows what they're doing and wants to make a few extra $. Willing to assist...Dana 30 and 35.

Little bit of a hike but I would recommend Mitchell Differential in Shrewsbury, MA.

Regearing properly is not cheap. You are realistically looking at $750 per axle bare minimum. Double that if you want to add real lockers.

Already got some Spartan lockers. For what I do with it not really worth spending thousands on lockers. $750 per is what I'm trying to avoid. Already have the gears and all associated parts just looking for decent labor rates and know how. Pretty sure I could do the swap myself but time/ never done a Dana before are giving me second thoughts. Thank you for the input though.

Mitchell normally charges a flat rate of $350 per axle for labor. A little more if you bring your own parts.

That's not too shabby. I'll be looking him up tonight if I can't find anyone a little closer to home. Thank you.

Well I decided to tackle the gear swap myself tonight after reading the FSM yet again and a little liquid courage. Not nearly as bad as I made it out to be in my head. Already messed up a crush sleeve though. Rear axle halfway done...

I would not waste money on a Dana 35 gear swap. swap out the whole axle for a better one.

Yea a lot of people say that but I've beat on mine pretty damn good and the worst I've suffered is a broken Spartan locker. 3 years of of beating, nary an issue with 35s and 3.73s.

Technohead 03-29-2013 11:26 AM

Beat it harder! :D

Yup, that's the plan!

Depends on what your looking for.
Johns Shafts and Stuff is really good, look up his shop and give him a call.

Did the job myself. Wasn't nearly as bad as I was thinking. The crush sleeves are a ***** though! Probably be able to do it in half the time next time I do it.

The time now is 12:43 AM.
