Suggestions for light off-roading in Vermont or CT

Hi,

I'm new to off-road riding, and would like to take my new Jeep on trails suitable for beginners, any suggestions for western Vermont or CT? I'll be in the Milford area this week, and Vermont for the weekend.

Cheers,
Sheila

I wonder how long it will take for this to turn into a land use argument, like every other thread that mentions ct.

I am not new the the jeep community but I have been out of it for a couple years now. I used to go wheeling up in southern NH when I lived there but now I am in Hebron CT and just recently bought a new jeep. If you hear of any good wheeling locations let me know, I wouldnt mind getting back out there.

Bruins I live a few towns over from you. There are a few places I know people go, but no legal wheeling around here unless you know landowners who grant you permission.

Hey Sheila, there isn't much in CT. Just dirt roads in state forests. Do you know anyone with land here in CT? If so, let me know haha. I live in Derby and work in Stratford, so I am close to Milford...actually used to live there for 3 years.

If you are looking to get your feet wet or are a beginner, there is a decent little road in Shelton that is actually on the map and is marked as a town road. It is more challenging than your standard dirt road but it is only spans less than 1 mile. PM me if you want to know where that is.

New to 4 wheeling maybe try a Jeep Jamborree. There is one in VT.

Jeep Jamboree USA has Jeep events all over.

I am new to wheeling as well and am looking for some beginner terrain. I am pretty close to Shelton and would love to hit that road. I know you didn't offer it to me, but I hope you don't mind if I PM you to ask where it is.

Thanks!
