Any new word on this place? Would be great to finally get this place opened. I already camp seasonally near Wurtburo. Would be great to have a place real close by to be able to wake up and play for a little bit on the weekends.

Last rumor was a local environmental group effectively stopped them by claiming there "may" be an endangered species on the property forcing studies to be required. The group told the off roaders that they could effectively keep finding new species that "might" be there forcing consecutive studies until the offroad group went bankrupt. End of story. This was a rumor may or may not be true.

Figured it was to good to be true. Is an off road park really that bad to the environment? Ha ha ha.

Not near as bad as a golf course, airport, strip mall, etc, etc. making trails through the woods still leaves 98% of the woods as they were, apparently not enough for the econazi types though.

I hope they can get past the environmental issues if that is the case. Even Suffolk County works around the Piping Plover's endangered species status by closing access to parts of the beach during certain times of the year. It would be great to be able to day trip upstate to go wheeling.

The issue would be is finding those locals

I hate that I really can't wheel on long island. I have wanted to see if I could find land owners and just ask if I could and pay them a bit

Could join hv4wd club or check the hud valley thread from time to time. We have plenty of islanders that wheel with us.
