I felt the same way... We should take a wheeling trip and not call them, HAHA.

Yo! Sorry man. Totally impromptu meet today! I was telling my friend about the first time I felt slightly inadequate with my new used stock Jeep was when I met your Jeep! LOL. Note to Jeep nubes with stock Jeeps: Don't park next to awesome modded Jeeps! LOL

I promise to pm you next weekend (Indian Summer please!). I saw nothing solid about a meet this weekend so I went to church in my childhood town and after talking to proper authorities did a little exploring. Turned out great. Best thing would be to pm me with your cell #'s cause I was able to call one friend out in PV and he was there and ready in about 45 minutes!

The pic looks good man! Haha, no big deal we DO have to set up a big Hudson Valley trip though. I am thinking about trying to join up the Hudson Valley Four Wheelers group.

BTW I got some spacers to get me through the winter for the front of my Jeep. Sagging pretty bad with the winch and bumper. After winter a 5.5 long arm kit is comin, either Rubicon Express or Rustys offroad.

If you see me around be sure to say hi..

Or PM me if you are up for hitting a trail in Carmel or New Paltz. The one in Carmel is mild, but its good just to screw around on.

curtagain, could you post bigger photos, maybe different angles? I can't make out the plate numbers on those trucks. The Environmental Protection Officers will need to know. You can just PM the plate numbers to me if that is easier. I posted above of that location, Mt Beacon NY being illegal. If you want a 2nd opinion, I am sure I can get one. Local groups fight with land owners and governments every day to try to get legal places for you and I to wheel. This sort of irresponsible activity just makes that work harder and makes off-roaders look like outlaws.

Bottom line is that if you are wheeling and...

a) you aren't in an off-road park

b) aren't on private land with the land owners permission

...then you are wheeling illegally. Here in the northeast those are your only two options. Tread at your own risk.

AH HA!

I was wondering where that came from! Didn't see any other built rigs in the lot that day. I usually say hello if I can find the owner.

This guy knows what hes talking about. It's sad but true, and it's the only thing stopping me from going to Mt. Beacon. I have never personally met him, but I have seen him around, and would like to meet him. I saw his red Jeep when I was younger and fell in love... Now I have one of my own, and see that the owner is a fellow Jeep Forum member.

I will not be going anywhere illegal or where I don't have permission to go. DEC Police, local Police and landowners have not made an example of me by giving me tickets or impounding my vehicle. I do as I'm told by them! That's responsible. I appreciate you telling me about Mt Beacon being illegal and I wont be going where I'm not wanted but I'd appreciate you not attempting to make an example of me in these forums . I understand the no illegal wheeling policy here. I'm also enjoying my Jeep quite a bit and hopefully I didn't encourage someone to illegally wheel by seeing for myself what the situation actually is.

Good, was our 'Annual Meeting'. I got reelected for Trail Coord for another year. Over the winter we plan to finally incorporate (501,7c non-profit) and to get insurance for the club. Land owners you approach about using their land really like a formally incorporated and insured group.
