the ONLY legal wheeling on Long Island is on the beach if you have a permit.
The "trails" off of the LIE are actually access roads for hiking trails. These are actual roads, with street names. The roughest is simply a sandy road with some washouts and is occasionally muddy after it rains. You could get a Subaru back there no problem. all of the OTHER trails that branch off of these roads are ILLEGAL trails.
I'd love to take a trip over there as soon as my damn car comes....i live off exit 43 so its not too far for me...still dont have a ship date yet so im hoping mid november
They are real roads but there are a few nice spots worth going out for. Last time we went we had was alot of fun. I wouldnt go without another jeeper as a rescue vehicle. If you are up to it ill be the 3rd jeep.

I may have a line on 500 acres in hancock,ny won't be able to wheel it until after hunting season tho. I was there last weekend, mainly overgrown logging roads, some washed out pretty good . I only covered about 1/3 of the land, but had a good time doing it. Let me know if interested
