adirondacks gps reception

Anyone from NY know how well handheld units work up there in the park? Planning a hunt this fall and wondering if it's worth the investment. Have no other use for one if it doesn't work up there. I know map and compass but want to make it easier.

?? Same as in Syracuse. The satellites are about 12,000 miles above earth, not on a cell tower. (I lived in NY for 41 yrs.)

Thanks for the replys. Thought it would be ok, just wanted first hand experience before shelling out a few hundred.

I don't ever have an issue. Except in dense cover. But that is to be expected.
