Jason4x4 and I went up for a couple hours and then to the Delta Family Restaurant for a late lunch. There is a tree down across the stream and hill climb. I tried to winch it, hoping that it would pivot on the base of another tree, but I ended up breaking about a 4 inch thick branch in the process, so we dragged it off the trail. I think some is going to have to hit it with a chainsaw in a couple spots to clear it, but it isn't all that thick so it shouldn't take long. All in all, it wasn't bad. We came in the usual way, but I had warned Jason and we creeped in there like thieves in the night. Nice and slow. I swear, the trail seems more rutted and rocky than I remember. Has there been a lot of rain or something washing down the hill? There wasn't much mud at all.

Like KevKaos said, we made it up there today with no issues. Mud was not as deep as I expected given the recent rain, but it was still decent. I could've coated the Jeep if I wanted to but I took it slow 'cause I didn't feel like spending the whole rest of the weekend cleaning up the Jeep .
For anyone who hasn't been there yet but is thinking of going, we went in via the side where the lady lives that doesn't want people to go in there. The road down is kinda rutted but nothing a stock Jeep shouldn't be able to handle. You're going downhill all the way to river. Once you get to the river there are some decent sized rocks you have to navigate to continue on to the "play area". Stockish Jeeps can swing out closer to the water for an easier line or more modified Jeeps can stay closer to the hill for more of a challenge. After that there are a few smaller mud pits and ruts and it's about maybe 1/4 mile to the "play area". The play area has a halfway decent mud pit (however it was no match for my brand new 35" BFG KM2s ). There are several small hill climbs and little "side loop" obstacles to play on, and you can play around in the creek. Once you're ready to head up the other side there is a long rocky climb up that isn't too hardcore except for one spot near the exit. There is a line around the treeline on the right side that is easier (and there is one line on the left that we didn't try that looks like it might be passable in a near-stock Jeep) but going up the middle will require more work and probably a locker (Kev went around the treeline, I tried the right-middle which didn't look too bad but I kept lifting a wheel even with my swaybar disconnected and getting hung up so I eventually followed Kev around the treeline and didn't have any problems). After you clear this last obstacle it's a pretty smooth ride back to the pavement.
All in all, it's a decent spot for those of you looking for a free place to play with your 4WD and it has some decent challenges even for fairly modified Jeeps and you can definitely get dirty if you want. Not a bad spot at all. Unfortunately my wife forgot the camera so I didn't get any pictures.

Sorry about that. I had my camera and didn't even think to break it out. I normally do. We'll have to go again and I'll take some pics and videos for you.

Hey, we should get going on that idea of arranging a meet and greet for MD folks. Any thoughts on a good meeting spot?

Really? KevKaos went basically right along the water and actually got hung up a bit but made it through with the help of his lockers. I kinda went right up the middle but it looked to me like the hardest line was right up against the hill, but maybe I'm wrong.

Dukie's right. At least when he and I were up Trails a few months ago. If you stayed to the left, it was much easier than going the way I went today. Today though, the left side did look tougher than I remembered.

Yeah when Anthony and I went down there he said it looks a lot worse than what it use to be. Being more rocks and more rugged. At the end of the trail you have a tight space to go up to on the right to get out. I couldn't do it. I was a noob at the time. So when Anthony hopped in he had to hit the tree to get mine up there causing to fold my front bumper. But I upgraded so fine now. But I hated that area and my tires weren't aired down right.

We didn't air down at all yesterday, probably would have made it a lot easier (and a lot more comfortable ride!), but it worked out OK.

I hit that poor tree every time, but from the looks of it, I'm not the only one.

Kev we should try to get a meetup going in like...Columbia. I think that would be a pretty good location. Lots of places to choose from with tasty treats and beverages.

You do? Imagine how I feel sitting here with boxes full of parts for my BDS lift and can't get into the shop to do the lift.
