Guy in a Red Jeep - PA Turnpike

Hey,

Last night a guy in a beat up red jeep with yellow smiley things on the roof ran me off the road on the PA turnpike near valley forge. We were entering the roadway and he swerved into my lane and forced me on the shoulder.

He had a bumper sticker with this forum's URL.

I didn't want to risk damaging my nice car against your beater, so I let you go and pulled over to the shoulder. However, if you'd like to meet somewhere and discuss this man-to-man, PM me.

Ouch.

I'm sorry that someone put you through that, you must be plenty angry about it. I know I am when someone does something that forces me to perform dangerous maneuvers to avoid a wreck.

I try to remember Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity" Do you believe this guy purposefully and maliciously targeted you, and tried to drive you off the road? Or do you think he had a stupid moment, forgot to check a blind spot before changing lanes, and is chastising himself for his mistake?

Hopefully your horn made it very clear that he was not attentive enough in his driving, so he knows there was a problem and he takes extra care to correct it.

I'm not trying to tell you not to be angry about it, but we've all made driving mistakes that we have been unable to apologize for. I am saying that tracking a person online and offering to meet up for a man-to-man "discussion" might be a bit excessive a response to a serious mistake, and a completely inappropriate, escalating response to a malicious act.

Personally, when I get upset like that, I go to the range. Handling deadly weapons always seems to put the little trespasses into perspective.

seriously??? do you know how many jeeps on here would qualify as "beat up" with "yellow smiley things on the roof"???

Also... you are aware that: when entering a highway (as you stated YOU were) the vehicles already on that highway have the right of way?

so technically, you should have yielded to traffic already traveling (including "beat up red jeeps with smiley things")

Dude, calm down. Things like that happen all the time. Why you felt the urge to track him down and talk to him face to face, I guess I won't understand. Things happen on the road all the time. No need to rage about it. I don't know about the rest of people on here, but I'm on the Jeep's side.

We were both entering the turnpike in two lanes side by side. There was a car in front of him in his lane so he tried to swerve into mine. I honked to warn him, and he gave me the finger, so there was malice.

He was driving dangerously and took advantage of his larger vehicle size. I'm just saying I'd invite him to try the same thing outside of his car. I'm sick of people being rude and aggressive.

I realize there are a ton of jeeps fitting my description, but as he had the forum bumper sticker on his jeep, I thought I could find him here. Still waiting...don't hide.

Sure, I'm an internet tough guy but the point of this post is that I'm asking to escalate this OFFLINE.

Nope, not shrugging this one off. I'm done with that. And to say it's a jeep thing, even in jest, gives your community a bad name by making me assume you're all on board with his behaviour.

Out of curiosity.... What kind of "nicer" car do you drive?

And you do realize that you're hunting the lion in his den by doing this here right?

Nicer in the sense of not all banged up. And I realize that getting banged up is the point of a jeep, so don't try to school me on that.

Yep, also realize on "hunting the lion in his den" but based on this guy's behaviour and quick trigger middle finger, I suspect it's more hunting a *****(cat)

Or you could not be a five year old and just let it go...cuz I'm sure that he doesn't even remember it happening.

Nope, no jeep for me. I guess you're not realizing how passionate I feel about this situation, as evidenced by the fact that I registered to find this guy. Only thing I have to go on is time, place, type of car, and his "jeepforum.com" bumper sticker.

I drive 80 miles a day and come across all kinds of bad driving. Usually, I let it go and chalk it up to mistakes. But when someone goes out of their way to drive like an a-hole, gives you the finger, etc. it kind of makes you pause.

Are you telling me you never get fed up with that kind of road rage exhibited by other drivers? Aren't you ever tired of just letting it go? This is a call to action, take matters into your own hands.

And I'm not road raging here - no cars involved, but I won't mind throwing some hands.

Actually, many of us might disagree with you on that one... the point of a Jeep is to enjoy traveling to places that other vehicles can only dream of going... that is the Jeep thing... and we're part of this Jeep community because we have pride in our vehicles and would certainly tell anyone who asked exactly how nice our rides are... so lets get some specs on this amazing vehicle that you did not want to get messed up?
