Anyone sign up for 2010 Jamborees? I signed up for Penns Woods and the Catskills. They are doing trails only for all the Jamborees now so it is a lot cheaper than last year. If anyone is on the fence, they are really nice event to attend and I had a lot of fun last year.

Signed up for the Penn's Woods and French Lick ones.

French lick was my forst ever JJUSA last year and had a blast. A bit pricey, but if you're new to off-raoding it's a great way to get introduced to it.

Signed up for Penns woods(3rd time), Catskills(3rd time), and Killington(2nd time). Wife and son love them, they are how I got the ok to build up the jeep. Our opinion on these 3 are: Penns Woods has the best food and people, Catskills have the best trails, and Killington has the best scenery, but love them all.

Glad to see your favorable opinion of Penns Woods. I went to Martinsburg several years back, and to Paragon Park in '04 when I got my rubicon. Had a great time at both .... but really like Paragon a lot. This will be my wifes first Jamboree, so I'm glad to hear they've got good people. Doesn't suprise me. It seems most people who organize as well as attend are really good folks. Really looking forward to it.:cheers2:

I am new to all this. Am considering the one in the Catskills but curious if it is for me. I have only my Jeep for a week and don't have much experience off road. My Jepp is totally stock as well. Any advice?
You will be fine in a stock jeep wrangler at the Catskills jamboree. I took my stock liberty on the Penns woods jamboree last year and my Wrangler is heck of alot more capable stock than my liberty. Just do the lower rated trails and you will be fine. Many people at the jambroees have no experience off road and the trail guides no this. They will watch out for you. They are a lot fun and will get you hooked on wheeling. I HIGHLY recomend going on one. Do not worry about your experience, this is the PERFECT way to get some.

Exsonyguy - as 139 said, you will have no problems with your JK. During last year's French Lick JJ, my group had a stock JK and it was aswesome. I was really impressed on how well a stock JK handled the terrain. Other than a monor issue with the front chassis cover.

Couple of suggestions would be:
1) Set of sway bar discos.
2) A skid plate under the front chassis skid (the JK with us tore of the OE plastic front chassis cover on the very first hill, so, just a FYI.)

Unless you have a rubicon, you do not need a front skid, just rip that plastic thing out and bring it to the dump. If you get hood bounce, get the Skid Row front skid for about 70 bucks. It will get rid of the hood bounce.

You will not be dissapointed, they are a great time. See you at penns woods, I am also registered for that one, I went last year and had an awesome time. It is alos 20 minutes from my house which makes if very convenient.

You're are lucky!! It's about 4-1/2 hours for us. I'm sure it will be worth the trip though. Should we plan any extra days for local stuff? We like old towns with history, stuff like that.............I know about the oil museum and WW2 museum......anything else worth mentioning??

Any thoughts on where to stay.....not sure if we're camping or rooming yet......

Thanks,
Steve

If there are still rooms available I would stay at the Campus. If you want to camp, willow bay is probably your best bet. I think contact info both is in the registration packet.

The WWII museum is really cool. Is not very big and doesnt look like much from the outside but they have a lot of really interesting stuff to check out. I have never been to the oil museum but have heard that his interesting as well.

If you are into hiking there are a lot of oppurtunites in the area. My favorite place to go is Alleghany State Park. It is right across the border in NY. It is a huge state park and they have a lot of well maked trails for hiking. They also have really nice designated mountain bike trails.

If you like casinos, there is a really nice one in Salamanca NY which is about 20 minutes from bradford in NY.

18 is the magic number. The Penns Woods Jeep jamboree is in in Northern PA in Bradford so it is not very far from MD. It is about 1 hour north of Dubois PA right on route 219 if you know where that is. The Catskills jamboree is about 1.5 hours north of NYC by the PA border.

Maine Mountains!
This will be our 2nd time and we can't wait!

The whole operation up there is top notch, everything from the coordinators, hosts, trail guides, food... everything! I've tried to recommend it to our club but looks like noone has taken the bite. Seriously, something for everyone up there - NOTHING like what we have here in MA/RI/CT... So fun! I can't wait!

Yeah, we're going to run the easier trails too.........I'm excited about the historic sites and the scenery..............Penns Woods is getting closer!! :D

You wont have any issues as far as not being experienced. Prob more than 1/2 the people at that jamboree will have limited experience, you wont be alone. Just run the easier trails if you are unsure of your abilities and listen to your trail guides. You will have a blast.

Great!! We'll see you Thursday..........just need to change the oil and pack. Look for the Silver Unlimited with 35's.........or wait, there's probably more then one of those at this event

Have a safe trip all!!

My Jeep is already to go. even though I live 25 minutes away I decided to reserve a hotel room in bradford for friday night so I dont have to air back up or re-connect the sway bar between the 1st and 2nd day. I am getting very excited. Man I love wheeling. :2thumbsup: I havent disconected sinceI put my 34s on. hopefully I wont get any rubbing.:D

Catskills was the one we were planning to go to. While we were making up our minds .... the darn thing sold out. Seems like the North East ones sell out a lot quicker than the others. September in the Catskills sounded like it would really be a pretty one to see. I'll know better next year.

I avoided that problem by promptly signing up for both:D. Next year I plan on going to West virginia too. My club seems more active in the spring and fall and winter so the jamborees fill in the down time during the summer when a lot people in my club are busy with family responsibilites and such. I am single with no kids so I can play all year.:D
