Suggested for camping within a reasonable day ride?

Looking for a place to go camping (tent) that's within a reasonable ride of New Orleans... say 4 to 5 hours drive. Maybe a little more if it's an exceptional site.

Fishing a plus (love Ft Pickens for that reason). Place to wheel a little a major plus!

Any suggestions?

Check out Red Creek in Mississippi..we went there a long time ago, not sure what the camping facilities are cause we rented one of the bungalos..but if I remember correctly there was a river behind our bungalo..mostly 4wheelers but still had a lot of great trails for us to offroad, also if you wanna make the drive Catahoula Recreational Park in Sicily Island, Louisiana (near Natchez) is AWESOME for offroading!!!! No fishing that I have seen, we have camped out there several times, once on the property, once right outside the gates a place called Deer Creek i believe and just recently at an RV park about 10 miles away(lot more amenities). That property has everything from beginners obstacles to some REAL rocks!!! Hope this was helpful!

not sure about the drive time involved but if western Arkansaw is in your time frame Devils Den state park is well worth the drive. it is by far my families favorite camping spot. they will keep you busy with the activities and if thats not enought you have buckhorn ohv park right beside it. heres a link to buckhorns trail map.
