99dodge and myself are planning on hitting Kisatchie forest on either the 27th or the 28th of December. I'm only in Louisiana for a few days, so that's my window for wheeling before I drive back to California.

Not sure how much of an event we want to make this, but if we keep the group small it would probably be nice. If anyone's around then and wants to hit the forest, I'm sure a few extra jeeps would still keep it fun

Kisatchie is verry regulated we used to go every weekend I havent been in years. Colfax is great if your into mud if your not you can ride around and watch the show. The roads are verry good a stock golf cart can ride to every mudhole in the place.

I'm driving back home (outside of Leesville/Ft.Polk) again this year for Christmas, anyone up for getting a wheeling group going sometime a few days after Christmas? Maybe Thursday the 27th of December?

I'm unfamiliar with the area for wheeling, as I wasn't into offroading when I lived there. Would love to hit some forest trails or something with some local jeepers! No mud pits for me though, haha

Not sure how far Sicily Island is for ya but that is a great place to go ride. I try to make it over they often. Should be able to do something that week.

I think that's a bit far north and east for me at the time. I'll only have a few days home in Louisiana, so I don't want to spend to much of it traveling. I'd like to meet up with folks who are a little closer, if possible! :-)

Louisiana is kind of limited on the wheeling spots. Sicily island is going to be pretty much it. Its not to much of a drive to get there, even if you are in town for only a few days. I want to go sometime after christmas, theres bound to be people going up there then.

good gas mileage is highly overrated.

I'd figure there would be tons of logging roads and forest trails?

I wouldn't mind mud on a trail, so long as it's not a mud pit

Oh there are lots of logging roads around and plenty of trails in National forest but there is also plenty of law enforcement. What was normal 10-15 years ago is illegal today. For trails Sicily Island is the only place I know of.
It sucks but these days if you didn't have to pay to get in its probably illegal.
My local area of National forest will let ATV rider's hit some marked trails but they are very boring and the rules state that if you start to spin the tires you should stop and use a winch so as not to destroy the land. And the tire size and lug height is limited.
Thank goodness for Louisiana Mudfest, I love mud pits.
