The problem with the world legal is it depends on what each individual sheriff and/or Park ranger decides, I have talked to a sheriff who said no and know two who say yes and one who even wheels out there himself, you are allowed to drive out there yes but if your jeep gets covered in mud they could hassle you, I will say this, I have been out there on Saturdays and seen no police or rangers and on Sundays they seem to swarm, basically is it legal yes, will they give you a hard time if they see you yes, but not a ticket, so go and have fun but I recommend going on a Saturday lol

I did look at that thread and will be sure to post when I plan on going

Cool. The thread you sent me to was an introduction thread talking about jeeper from south LA. I don't see how that is helpful or related to this.

Sounds pretty illegal. I don't want to go somewhere that is anything close to legal. Honestly, I used to ride at Camp Claiborne up here in cenla and have wheeled with rangers, have pulled rangers out from being stuck but have never been told I was doing anything remotely illegal. Then a friend brought up that the national parks services restrict anyone with over a 50" wide vehicle from "trail riding". I then looked into this and verified the rules and I was very disappointed but just because I know/have wheeled with multiple rangers out there, does not make it legal. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse to break it. Sounds like you are asking enough people to find one who will tell you it's ok or someone who doesn't know exactly what they are talking about.

Wheel wherever you want at your own risk but it could be a $500 ticket or so. I would rather spend that on upgrading parts than a ticket.

No actually I ask several people because it seems a healthy portion of cops are ignorant of the laws themselves, but I plan to speak with the land use managers to verify legality

Anywhere and everywhere. There's quite a few trails out there and other places to play.
