North Texas trails?

I am new to this area (Plano). Just got a YJ. Had one when i was in high school and we would go to the trails off 360 in Arlington/Grand Prairie. Is there anything like that near me where i wont get ticketed. Thanks in advance. Even some paid trails would be appreciated. It those exist. Ha

Ive been trying to get a group to head to bridgeport. Its a shame there arnt more places to wheel around here. And I live right at the red river, you would think there would be all kinds of trails, yet ive only found a couple and not that great either.

If you live in Plano theres a little entrance to some pretty good trails right off of George Bush and Campbell road. We go out there all the time and have never had any trouble with police.

Where's the closest gas station to this place? I don't have a trailer, so I'd have to drive my jeep the 90 miles from my house to the border. Looking at the map, it looks like you can't get to this directly from 35, but have to exit at Gainsville and take backroads....is that correct?

Thanks,
Ben

From I-35, exit in Gainesville and take Hwy 82 east approximately 4 miles; then head north on FM 371 to Walnut Bend and continue on CR 127 until you get to the Red River and Horseshoe Bend. Before you get all the way to the end of CR 127, you can also turn west onto CR 110 and explore a lot back in there along the river. The nearest gas stations are in Gainesville. Good luck!

yes, lots of mud; I've never heard of Slickem Slew, but a quick Google search turned up THIS POST by SwampGal, which describes the same general area (but it seems the places I know around Horseshoe Bend and west of there are a bit further southwest from Lake Texoma and probably Slickem Slew)...

How was this place? I've only had my jeep almost 2 weeks and am leaving for Colorado tomorrow but would love to check out some area places when I get back. I live right by DFW airport...

I'd be interested in getting a group together to check out the Red River bottom lands sometime up near Horseshoe Bend northeast of Gainesville.
