Lincoln National Forest - Guadalupe
I have been jeeping for over 5 years and I am still amazed that more Texans don't have an interest in this area. It is just west of Carlsbad, New Mexico and offers hundreds of miles of offroad driving on national forest and public lands. Camp anywhere you like, drive anywhere on established trails, no harassment from anyone. It is true four-wheel freedom at 6,000-7,000 feet. It is pretty secluded so bring enough gas and food/water/beer. I have never had anything but a good, relaxing time time everytime I have been there.
