Just a question.....

Hey, y'all. I'm gonna be getting stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso. I was wondering if there's anywhere around there to get a bone-stock ZJ good and dirty without tearing it up too bad.

I've driven through there a couple times but never with the jeep, so I don't have any specific info. It's out in the desert and just across the Texas/New Mexico border from Las Cruses so I know there are plenty of trails in the area. I'm sure you can find some mild enough for a stock ZJ. Now you have to tell me where your avatar pic came from.

Okay, change to the change. Not going to El Paso anymore (lost my assignment, Army changed my orders). So.....instead of Bliss, I'm going to Ft. Hood. Anyone wanna wheel?? Or, uhm, help me work on the Heep??

Well now my avatar comment just looks silly. In Ft. Hood you won't be too far from Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, and pretty close to Hidden Falls Adventure Park (I think that's the name now) in Marble Falls. There's a couple parks a little further out West that are worth going to as well. I haven't made it out there yet though.

Wanna link up and go?? LOL......I'm wheeling stock, though, so you'd have to take it easy on me in that monster TJ of yours.

Lol... my TJ is far from monster. I'm hoping to get out to Gilmer in the begining of October. There's another event at Hidden Falls towards the end of October as well. Trees Ranch has an event in a couple weeks, although I won't be making that one. Check out www.rockmonkeykrawlers.com for info on the club I'm with. We're mainly based South of Houston and just travel out to the parks. There are closer clubs to where you'll be that it would probably be good to join... although you're welcome to come out with us whenever we go. Keep in mind, my jeep is one of the smallest rigs in our main group, so with a stock ZJ you might be on a lot of bypass trails. It's all good though.

Check out this forum ... http://http://centexoffroadmilitia.aforumfree.com/

Most of these folks are in the Austin/Temple/Waco/Killeen area and they go to Marble Falls quite a bit.
