Hey TxJeeper16 how are things going over there in afghanistan? I just moved to Mt. Pleasant, TX and dont know anyone. Have you ever been to Barnes Mountain Off Road Park in Gilmer Tx? It seems like it would be a blast, ive youtubed some videos about the park and the trails seem sweet.

Hey guys - new here and thought I pop in on this one. I don't do mud so realize options are thin around here (live in Corsicana). A group of us (the texas chapter of SoCal RockCralwers lol) usually get together three or four times a year and wheel around - prefer rocks and technical mountain trails. We have been to the old Katemcy, Super Lift Park in Hot Springs Ar, Moab, Sedona, and of course usually do the Rubicon every Aug (jeepers Jamboree). Heard about a park in Abilene? Anyone know of it?

The trails in Barnwell Mountain seem great for trails - but not a lot of technical, and River Run seems like mud lover's paradise. What other areas are there nearby (like 3-4 hours or so from Dallas area)?

The wagon should, of course, be as light as possible, but strength should not be sacrificed to lightness, for on any but the regularly traveled roads, the wagon will get many a hard knock...

Yeah I moved down here to Mt. Pleasant to take care of my grandparents because my grandfather is a 100% disabled vet and the VA hasn't kicked in yet so I'm helping out.... NEVER would have imagined that I would have moved from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton/Suffolk/Chesapeake/Portsmouth/Newport News area of Virginia to the middle of no mans land Texas......called Mt. Pleasant!

I don't know much about the area only that Gilmer has an off road park haha.

Just got done making Labor Day weekend reservations for SuperLift Off Road Park in Hot springs! We (4 jeeps from dallas area - assuming 2 make it back from Rubicon Trail - plus mine) are going up Sept 1 (thursday) and back on Sept 5 (Monday). There will be a ton of others there as well. Also in October is the Jeepers Jamboree at Oachita - sounds like a good deal for 195 all meals (except trail lunch) and plenty of fun! Thinking about that one as well.

Hey Jeepers! Currently I'm in the Navy and Stationed in Washington state. Northwest has some great places to wheel and I sure am gonna miss it. I am origanally from Athens Texas and I am moving back in 2 weeks! Can't wait to get back around some true Texans! I would like to know of some great places to wheel. I've heard about Barnwell MT. Seen videos and it looks fun. Any great places in the hill country ? like bastrop, temple, waco austin area? I love sleegin' mud just as much as the other guy, but I really want to put my TJ through some challenges on the weekend. 98' Sahara w/ full traction 4" long arm, d44r, d30f, 4.88, arb lockers, and whole bunch of others. Also, I would like to join a 4x4 club and make some new friends as well. So let me know whatya got. Thanks and take care!
