AUSTIN/RR/SAN MARCOS...meet up?

^ Jeep1000, when I went this past Sunday with them, a stock YJ kicked *** so I wouldn't doubt that a CJ would do fine (depending on its overall condition I guess...) he'll even my Patriot didn't do too bad...just got stuck going up most every hill -____-

So no one has a dana 30 with 4.10 gears that they want to get rid of? I just don't want to spend a lot on an axle right now as I just redid my entire suspension and new tires all around. Just need it so I can have 4x4 again, while I save for my Dana 44 for the front.

Thanks,
Ronnie

(Edit: didn't read the entire post prior to quoting)

Just run with what you have for now without 4x4 until you get the funds for the 44.

yea, that is what I am doing now, but my front axle is disconnected, as it is 4.10 in the rear and 3.53 in the font. so no 4x4.

Ronnie, wouldn't a stock D30 from any 4 banger YJ work? Didn't they come standard with 4.10s? If so, I'd ping Krawltex, Just Jeeps, or Jeep Masters to see if they have one available.

Good luck,
Tommy

Yea, that is what I am looking for. I'm thinking if I get one cheep enough. I could swap it in and have 4x4. then build the HP 30 that I have now. Add a Truss change it to a 30 spline and run it. It would be as strong as a Stock dana 44.

Well, I wouldn't say that. The ring/pinion will still be weaker than a D44, but it'll still be plenty stout enough for most folks. Case in point, I'm still running a D30 and my rig isn't exactly a mall crawler. I just added alloys, but in 6 years I've only snapped one axle and only lost one u-joint. The D30 gets a bad rap, but if you're smart with the skinny pedal, don't bind it, and drive smoothly it can stand up to some hard use!

That being said, however, I'll be going with a full width D44 at some point, but I eventually will plan to run 37s and want a bit more peace of mind. The axle swap will likely wait 'til the hot rod is driveable, though. That may be a while!
