We'll meet at Camp B at 10am. For those with CBs - let's use Ch 4. See you all out there.
It sounds like we'll have at least 6 out there - BigT2317, Jason, me, Tonya, Mike + 2 of his friends. Anyone else is welcome to join us out there too.

Good times yesterday at Hidden Falls:

The poor FJ driver scraped his passenger door on the rock a few seconds after this picture was taken:

It's great weather to go. The wet makes it a little more challenging but just as much, if not more, fun!!

It was a great day yesterday. I was surprised there were not a whole lot of Jeeps out there. Passed a group of JK's taking their time on the fence line, but that was about it. Ran the entire FM Tro which kept us out of the direct sunlight, but there was a lot of water. The last obstacle at the top had a hole so deep water came in the doors. Did Wildcat Staircase, Bronco, No Name, W&W, Royal Gorge, then finished the day off clearing Jeff's playground, which I've only been able to do once before out of three attempts.

I was out there on the 25th, probably the only person out there wheeling literally. They had the air compressor down so I was only able to air my tires down to 23psi (load range D on the KM2's, they weren't that bad driving a couple miles down 1431 to the nearest air compressor to air em back up) which wasn't ideal but better than leaving them at 32psi. I did a few trails, scraped the corner of my hard top while going down the Toyota trail and hit the driver rear shock mount somewhere else in the park. Ive probably scraped my control arms more times than I can count now, nothing major though.

With a 1 3/4" spacer lift, VDP stubby end caps and 285/70/17 KM2's I can make it through level 3 and some level 4 trails out there no problem. Usually just end up scraping a skid plate, control arm or every once in a while kiss the very bottom of a diff on a rock. I wish I had a 3.5" Rubicon Express mid arm kit and some 35s on my Rubicon so I could hit up some of the harder trails.

I was able to take my 2000 Jeep Wrangler with a ~2" lift, Smittybilt XRC front/rear bumpers and 33x12.5r15 ProComp Xterrains through Midnight Run a year ago before it got even more washed out (was listed as a 4 then, I can only imagine how bad it is now that its a 5 after all the rain). Its a 5-speed rocking a 2.5l with a CAI/throttle body spacer, Jet Stage 2 tune and some banks tubular exhaust manifold with a high flow magnaflow catalytic converter and magnaflow cat-back exhaust. Surprisingly the two times I took it through Midnight Run the only place it had issue was the first obstacle after you drop in, kissed the rear bumper on the rock ledge. Other than that I had no issue making it up the cliff at the end of the trail, although I had to go near the top of 1st gear speed wise and pop a wheelie over the 1st of the two ledges at the end in order to make it up and over it (made it over on my first attempt both times though which was awesome after watching a couple other wranglers in front of me need multiple attempts to get up and over it).

I want to head back out there with the 2000 Wrangler sometime coming up and wheel it again, I havent had it out there since last year. Been taking the 2012 Rubicon out there since its a lot easier on my back (2 spinal surgeries) not having to constantly clutch over and over while rock crawling... but it is a lot more of a challenge wheeling in the manual 4 banger, that's for sure haha. I might try to get my wife to head out and have her drive the Rubicon, she needs to get behind the wheel a bit more. She only hit a couple trails out there when I was either in the passenger seat or guiding her over obstacles, and she really doesn't like anything off camber. So I'm not sure how comfortable she will be driving the Rubi by herself down trails that are very narrow and require some skill to navigate without me helping her along the way.... I bet after she does drive by herself down a few trails she will become much more confident and comfortable doing so.

Are there any events coming up where there will be a bunch of people out there?

We've been going out there as a group about every 4-6 weeks. If you scroll back in this thread, you can see the various pictures. We've had anywhere from six to ten Jeeps out there every time. We typically go out there on Sunday. Just keep track of this thread, and we'll post something up in 2-3 weeks. Other people are going out there often, so you may be able to find other groups (or single Jeeps) to wheel with.

And I hope that Hidden Falls gets that air compressor fixed (if they haven't already). It wasn't working on the 21st when we were out there.

One more thing - I would never recommend wheeling by yourself - it's always good to have a buddy or two with you!
