$17,500 for a Jeep! Ouch!

Okay, so it's probably reasonable but I could build a heck of a CJ for 17 grand.

New to the Houston area... Can anyone point me in the direction of some groups and/or wheeling spots?

Welcome to the Houston area! Where were you previously?

Here are some links and commentaries:

Down South Offoroad is southeast area of town, near Crosby, TX, about 30 minutes from downtown Houston. They're more ATV-friendly but you will see some Jeeps and trucks there. I find this place best for floating (myself) in the river at 'the beach' and people watching:

Huntsville, TX:

Creekside, about 45 mins from Houston:

There was a place called Spring Creek which is currently closed. Here's a thread about it:

Being on the Gulf Coast you'll see that it's mostly flat territory around here. The more interesting terrain is found in around the Austin and San Antonio region but that can be 3+ hours away.

Speaking of the Gulf Coast, don't forget the beach. San Luis pass is at the far west end of Galveston Island. There are very few places you can wheel on Galveston Island, but the far west end has some places. Here's a Google search that has some videos and other info:

Checked out the Texas Offroad Ranch today. My son and I had a good time. Got stuck in one of the mud holes and had to winch out, always fun.

I need to get out that way. Haven't been wheeling since I did a couple mountain passes in Colorado over the summer. Did you go with a group?

Just wanted to say hi, I just logged in for the first time in 3 years. I guess that is what happens when your jeep has been sitting on jack stands for 4 years. But this is the year it gets done and I hope I can get it out wheeling again with yall.

What's up stranger. Lots of us still lurking around. What's wrong with your jeep?

Hey guys, I haven't been on in a while. I recently bought a 2014 Wrangler Unlimited and I'm thinking about selling the old wrangler to get some money for mods. I just wanted to put a feeler out there to see if anyone might be interested in a 97 Wrangler.

Here is a picture

I tore it all down to rebuild the entire suspensions and transfer case. I rebuilt the transfer case with wide chain, 6 gear planetary, etc. Now i am at triangulating the rear suspension. I have an artec truss welded in, just trying to get the bracketry to work. I have been through 3 sets of brackets now of which have worked. Trying to use RE long arm lowers and fab up some upper brackets.

My to do list is
-Rear uppers and brackets
-Measure for new shocks and install
-Adjust tcase lever, it is binding now
-New rear DS
-Install front steering

Anyway it is good to see you guys are still floating around here. I really want to get out and do a run again. I will set my goal for this thing to be done in April.
