Wrenching Party Friday 8/24/07

So I'll be doing the ever so popular D44a-->D35 axle swap and running the similarly popular 3.55 in the rear and 4.56 in the front & no rear drive shaft because I shortened mine.

I'll be starting tomorrow after work, probably around 5. I anticipate everything to go pretty easily since it wasn't 3 weeks ago when I last had everything disconnected

Anyone want to come and wrench?

I might be able to come and hang out. Why are you going from the d44 to d35? I'm still kinda (really) noobieish about this technical stuff, but that seems a little backwards.

I wrote up a howto on how to swap from a D35 to a D44a...now I figure it is only fair I go the other direction to make the writeup complete.

Ya know, for those times when the axle you swap in may have bearing problems and to get the Jeep drivable again w/o ruining the gears mean time.

I wish I could Ryan. Working then coming home to finish up my Hill Billy Toy Hauler to get ready for the VACATION. I still have a lot to do before it is done. Sorry to see the swap did not work out so well. I wish I knew enough about diferentials to help you get the d44 fixed!?

In case something changes what time are looking to do the swap?

Later,

Don

Well regardless of your noobishness or not, you're welcome to come and wrench and learn something. Nothing is difficult so if anything it'll take away the timidness of it

My address is:
625 Ridgeview Dr.
Louisville, CO 80027

Cell: 303-263-1820

Stop by if you want to, if not, no worries.

I'd like to help out tonight, but I'm going out, so I won't be able to this time. Sorry.

In other news, when you had the old spiders in the front end, what kind of a noise/growl/vibe did you have? After pulling my front DS, my vibe finally went away, but I still have a growl from the front end, and I am thinking it might be the gears. I haven't pulled the cover yet to check it out though.

Are you still going to be going up to LHC this weekend?

1) No noise from the front...
2) Yep, still going up to LHC...in my Jeep if I can get it finished tonight OR in da Tahoe if I can't get it finished.
