Holy Cross 7-23-11

I have been wanting to run this trail for years, finally got to run it this last weekend with the club I am in. Definitely one of the best trails I have even been on.

One of our members son is in the club that has the trail adopted. One summer he ran the trail over 30 times. Needles to says he lead the group and spotted when needed.

We started at the trail head at 8:30 with 9 rigs.

By time we reached the first obstacle two more in our group had joined us.

A few needed a little help on this obstacle just before French Creek.

By time we reached French Creek another 5 from our group had caught us making 16 total. To our surprise we were the only ones there. There was some breakage and a few needed a little assistance.

There was a group of 2 behind us that were very patient as we got everyone through. Took between an hour and a half to two hours to get everyone through.

We made it to the city by about 12:45.

A few went up to try Cleveland Rock. This first rig was the only one to make it.

On the way down we came around the corner to the "root obstacle" to find the guy in our group that had left a little early on his lid. Luckily no one was hurt and we had him over and running in no time.

Some more picts here

Awesome trip! I cannot wait to run it again.

Ran Kelly Flats this past Sunday. A buddy of mine hasn't run it yet since he got his LJ last fall.

FS put up a new trail head sign.

When we did the trail maintenance in the spring I noticed the obstacle signs could use some fresh paint so I brought a can of Hammerite.

Some of the group.

This beast was also with us.

We ran it pretty quickly so I didn't get many picts. Here are some at "The Chutes."

Looks like fun Mike, I need to head back to the Chutes myself and reclaim my body panel/paint!

I joined my brother at a Toyota event this last weekend. I had a blast. I went up Holy Cross on Friday. Saturday I wanted to run BV Carnage. My brother broke a main leaf about a 1/3 of the way the trail (before V-notch). I turned around with him and ended up running Chinaman's. I final made it up Whale Tail, so I would say the stretch was worth it.

A few pics from the past month. Went fishing in Gunnison and checked out Crystal Lakes near Breck last weekend.

About when does Pearl Pass usually open? I was hoping to take a group there in the late summer, hoping most of the snow would be clear.

August typically - although with the dismal snow we have this year, perhaps July.

Jeff & Dave, owners of Rokmen and myself ran Indy & Patriot on Sunday. Perfect day of wheeling, minus the wind that kicked up in the afternoon. The 3 of us dropped in @ 10 and were out @ 1:30. We took our time and we got a ton of pictures & video. All 3 of us drove the trail without a winch pull or tow strap.

There was hardly anybody out there. Just us 3 and another group of 3 build buggies behind us. The trail is in good shape, no trash.

I only took a couple pics but Jeff and TrailBuilt took a ton. Here's my pictures.

Here's Jeff & TrailBuilt's pictures
