Hey all! I'm new on this forum but have been web wheeling Full Size Jeep sites since 2002 and for reals since 1997. I recently picked up a ZJ to take over DD duty so my J-10 can be a little more dedicated trail rig.
As a by-product of this change, I can now take both my lady AND my dog in the ZJ instead of picking one or the other for trips in the J-10 (my dog tends to be more willing than my lady, haha!)
So anyways, I'd like to pitch the idea of a Stock Rig Run around the end of Sept to see some of the ghost towns in Park county. While I've been in the PNW for the last 15 years, I'm a native and have been all over these mountains in my youth. Since getting back here I've been busy retracing my tracks all over CO (New Years resolution is every state park in 2014, a little too ambitious, but totally worth it, I'm at 21 of 42
So I'm thinking an all-day Saturday affair, starting in Fairplay (South Park) and then heading to Alma and over Mesquito and down to hwy24. From there folks could decide to head back to I-70 or down to Buena Vista to head home. This would be a family friendly day trip with lots of stops for pics, leg stretching, letting kids burn up the bug juice and sour straws they've been munching on while you drive kind of trip.
Totally non-organized, no fees or registration, your own recognizance kind of deal. As the title suggests, I intend for this to be wholly stock rig doable and is more about sight seeing and fresh air than testing your mettle, but most jeeps are pretty capable right out of the box. This invitation is for those among us who have stock jeeps and haven't had a chance to get to get it out there yet, either novice Jeeper or experienced Jeeper with a newer Jeep.
If I see much interest I'll lock down the date and route, but if not, I'll still post up when I'll be eating breakfast in Fairplay for anyone who decides to show up but I'll leave the route a little more fluid. Please post your interest or inputs below!
Hope to meet some of you soon!
P.S. I'll edit this when I get home to include some pics, stupid work computer firewall.
