Rock Frogs run Rollins Pass 12-9-06

What a blast, no shortage of snow!

Well lets see here, I think just about everyone got stuck, some more then others though Don (Red Rubi), Eric (Green YJ), Kimo & Kevin (Pair of silvery Rubi's) and myself (Pimp WJ) attended. Considering I was the only one open F&R I didn't do too badly

One broken winch cable, not bad for a day of a lot of wheel spinning...

Lots of snow throwing!

A little bit of diff dragging:

A little stuck:

Luckily I was around to save the Rubicons!

Fun hill, probably my favorite "obstacle" of the day:

Best part:
"Wow, what a great place to take the pictures from, I'll be up close to the action!"

"Oh ****, a wall of snow is about to cover me!"

And thats the last we saw of him

Eric stuck:

Again:

And again:

Yep, I have lost count...again:

Another 500ft for a running start and I would have had this!

The great thing about when synthetic winch cable breaks, it neatly folds itself in its own pile:

Don letting Auto-Pilot take over!

Me, being like Eric thinking "That snow looks fun....oppps "

Damn! Did you guys post an invite on JF? That looked like tons of fun!

I actually did the opposite today- washed my jeep. Tightened all the bolts on the rear of my jeep- gas tank, bumber, tire carrier, door, trunk, and rear glass. I'm trying to eliminate some squeeks.

Had I known I would have loved to go -assuming some outsiders could.

It was 60 degrees and so I did get to cruise with the top and doors off today.

Nope didn't post an invite on here...Slipped my mind (busy at work)..outsiders are welcome though

Would have been a great place to use your winch and best yet, there weren't many tree's around to scratch your calipers!

WTH no invite?!?!?!?

Is it something we said?

I did the same as Jay washed up the rig and pulled some maint. A snow run would have been grrrrrreat! Oh well had to spend some time with my parents as they were in the big city this weekend.

It looks like you all had a blast, thats the important part.

That looks like so much fun, I think I might want to do a little snow bashing today.
Had a work xmas party Saturday to attend. But today...is mine to play.
I fixed the oil leak and still am having charging problems, even after changing battery cables. But makes little difference. GOT TO WHEEL...
I think Charlie and I will head to Slaughtethouse late this morning. GOT TO WHEEL.

So...
How do those Rubicon lockers work in the snow?

I heard they turn off automaticly at 5 mph. That would be hard to keep below when playing in snow.

Yeah they turn off automatically...a lot of the time they were running just the LSD. Don drove into their giant snow pile, engaged the lockers, in 4 low, and then got out. The tires proceeded to claw their way forward a couple feet over the next couple minutes

Great pictures. It looks like you guys had a blast. I love snow bashing. Never done it in my CJ, but used to do in a truck.

Oppppps, took my Jeep into an exhaust shop to get a quote done and the shop guy kindly pointed out that I am missing a bolt...

Lesson learned: Even if you use a torque wrench and proper torque values for every bolt, they still work themselves loose. Thinking about using a dab of locktite on my suspension bolts now.

Hmmm...seems like kind of an important one to be missing! I figured you would have had some clunk or something from under there....
