Planning a coast to coast trip.

I'm planning on a coast to coast trip from Ocean city, MD to Sacramento, Ca. early august. Well the general idea is to travel the entire Rt. 50. There is a sign at the east side of Rt 50 just as you leave downtown OC that says Sacramento, CA 3073. But this probably won't happen as I want to visit some places that are not on rt 50 along the way.
I plan on spending a lot of the time in colorado as I've seen and read that there are awesome sights there. I'm not looking to do any serious wheeling. I'm still kinda new and would rather not have to spend more than I have to on repairs. I'm looking to do this on budget, so camping and lots of sleeping in the jeep will be involved.
So I'm posting this here on the Colorado section looking for some local advice to easy to moderate trails with amazing scenery and if possible camping near by.
A gopro is in the plans for the whole trip too so hopefully if everything goes as planned there will be vids later on.

US 50 goes along the Arkansas River west of Pueblo, Co. If you are into white water rafting, this would be the place. US 50 goes to the Buena Vista, Col. area. There are several fun trails in that area.

Go to:
and get the Colorado book. It will have all the trail info that you need.

A couple of suggestions:
Tin Cup Pass
Hancock Pass
Alpine Tunnel
Tomichi Pass

You also get pretty close to the Ouray area, just south of Montrose, Col. The same book will have trails for that area, which I highly recommend.

US 50 joins I-70 at Grand Junction. You are now within an hour of Moab, Ut. Don't pass this chance up.
