We are going to be wheelin in the Leadville area next weekend. We are planning on tent camping but dont like to camp in campgrounds. I would appreciate any suggestions.

We're going there for a week next month. Undecided on whether to take the fifth wheel or get a cabin. Turquoise lake is cool and some good trails on the north side of the lake to wheel and throw up a tent. Not sure if it's legal to camp outside of designated ares in the lake area.

Can't wait; mosquito pass, Mount Zion, Hagerman Pass. And maybe some fishing.

Be aware of the hwy 24 shutdown because of the massive sinkhole between Red Cliff and Leadville. Access to and from Leadville to I-70 is shut down on hwy 24.

Look up Halfmoon Creek on traildamage.com

Free camping along the trail. Located just below Mt Massive a 14er.
