Tj first time snow boarding

Ove christmas weekend I'll be snow boarding for the first time(been in CO for over 20 years). How much am I looking to rent the equipment? What should I buy as far as clothing. Anything other advice.

I haven't rented equipment in such a long time but probably plan on $25-$50 depending on the quality of gear you rent. Buy set of snow pants that has powder guards on the ankles and a ski jacket with powder guards around the waist.

I wear a helmet - some like them, some don't.

Go to Colorado Ski and Golf. It's cheaper to rent down here then it is at the resort...more times then not anyway.

Really... We should try to meet up then at Copper if you go there... I have from the 21st to the 1st off and will but up that Thursday and or Friday at minimum. Not sure what other days I'll go. I hate fighting the holiday crowds and lift lines etc. It makes it rather hard to do any decent boarding with so many people.

Roughly Whats your skill level at?

There is nothing wrong with wearing a helmet.

I am just saying that to make myself feel better. My wife has made me wear one ever since I cracked my head going through the trees.

Try, please try to go when there is at least 4" for freshies. It will be a lot easier to surf the powder, then being repeatedly slammed on the hard stuff and risk braking bones.
Helmets are great, cuz you are going to have a crash, the helmet stays on yer noggin' and protects yer head too boot!
Copper has some wicked Blues & Greens. They are very very long and can be really fatiguing. I live 1.5 hour south and am spoiled by Monarch Mountain.
Check out SPORT LEGS, they work well.
Stay hydrated!!

Keep us up to date as to where you will be. I'm usually up every weekend, either at Winter Park or Copper. I'd be up to meet with you as well, and possibly give you a few pointers.

Definately stay hydrated though. If you're new, check out knee pads and wrist guards as well. It'll help you when the days over. My biggest piece of advice- DON'T GET FRUSTRATED!!! You WILL fall, and it'll get annoying. But it happens to everyone, so don't get mad at yourself. Just gotta keep a strong head and stay at it. Other than that, I think everyone else covered the big things.
