In Colorado Springs area for a few weeks before Afghanistan. Anyone planning a trip?

I'm in the Army and am in Woodland Park Colorado for a couple of weeks before a trip to Afghanistan. I'd like to take advantage of being here and make some 4x4 runs.

My Jeep isn't built up too much so I'd like to stay to the moderate trails. My TJ isn't built up too much but I do have some standard offroad gear (snatch strap, fire ext., Hi-Lift). I'm going to install an oil pan skid plate to protect that brand new oil pan I just put in as well.

So is anyone planning on making any day trips in this area? If so, I would appreciate being able to come along. Does anyone know of any trails I could run by myself close to Woodland Park? I know it's not a good idea to push it by myself, but I'd at least like to drive some dirt roads and visit some abandoned mining camps.

You start almost due east of Woodland Park off of Rampart Range Road.

The trailhead is right at the highway between Woodland Park and Deckers.

Hope this helps some, just do a search for Woodland Park
