Oh yea...
Also...

I get my van back today with a new tranny($1400) The company will pay $1200 of it. SO COOL!
Got my drains roto rooted yesterday and cleaned up the sewage in the basement(at least I have the skills and equipment to do that, I clean carpets for a living).
Will be ready to get the Jeep re-inspected tomorrow(friday), should pass(knock on wood).

So things that have been dragging me down...are starting to ease up a bit.

Always seems like bad things come at once and hit hard...the good eventually comes back - I have to keep that in mind myself when the times get tough.

Amen. This year has really been super stressful and hard with our business...we even tried to sell it at one point just to step away, but even the sale fell through.

BUT -- my daughter was born on Oct. 13th, so all of the previous garbage melted away.

Ryan is right, it all seems to come in droves, but the good always seems to come back!

YAHOO!!!
I found a BIG vacuum leak on the Jeep.
Normally one would be sad at this event..BUT...my Jeep failed emissions test for NOx. Which is a poorly running engine. The first thing , the #1 reason for high NOx is a Vacuum leak on the intake. The crankcase vent was cracked pretty badly. That is certainly a vacuum leak!
The bad thing...the part is NOT available. No longer made.
So...
Until I can get to a bone yard, I will epoxy the thing back together.

I also found an exhaust leak. Before the O2 sensor.

Will this effect the NOx readings?

Don't think so, but their exhaust sniffer may detect the leak.

2 OF THE BIGGEST KILLERS OF NOX IS O2 SENSORS AND EGR VALVE. HIGH CYLINDER TEMPS CAUSE HIGH NOX AND BOTH OF THEM CAUSE HIGH TEMPS. A LITTLE TRICK IS TO DUMP ABOUT 5-6 BOTTLES OF DRY GAS IN FUEL TANK. THE ALCOHOL LOWERS CYL TEMP.

It is very sad.

Speaking of the military, if any of you guys are going to the Air Force/Navy game or watching it on TV, my buddy is one of the pilots in the F-15 flyover. I am very excited for him.

Everyone have a great weekend

Not quite as good, but here is 18.1 MPG proof in my V8 caddy -- certainly not as good as your 'yota, but much better than my TJ's 12 mpg.

I am impressed with your Caddy's MPG! Of course, that looks to be MPG on the highway given your speed?

I just got a new DD so I'm excited to see what kind of mileage I'll get out of it. Best news is that it looks like the ZJ gets to stay (for now, anyway).

Nah, that 18.1 is actually all the Hampden and Colorado Blvd stop and go traffic that I drive -- When I drove it from St. Louis to here I actually got 24.1 Highway, which I was very impressed with.

Congrats on the DD Ryan -- now I really won't be able to find you anymore on my way to work, there are TOO many Honda Acura's. I'll just wave at 'em all!
