It's something I need to look into though. Let's just say its no fun to lose engine power on a steep decent and loosing engine braking, power brakes, and power steering all at once.
Even through your CEL light isn't on anymore you should still have the codes stored I believed. It could just be a gummed up injector, o2 sensor, etc...and once you hit highway speeds it was cleared out after a day of idleing. Pull the codes and go from there

Problem is they have to be checked by a reader since my ZJ is a '98. The only year that you can't use the key trick. It should be stored for 50 starts or so. Looks like I'll be making a trip to Checker in the near future...

Does anyone have a good place to upload videos? We have videos of the screaming girl and we have a couple of Jeeps going up the rock quarry.

Yep. I tried it for probably 30 minutes one day and couldn't get the codes to pop up no matter what combination I tried. I look it up and sure enough, you can't use that trick on '98s.

Props to Eric and Eric for staying back there and helping them fix their stuff, I would have loved to have stayed back and hung out and learned some new stuff but my copilot was getting cranky

Well Eric (YJ Eric) said he could not feel right about leaving them stuck, (I would have probably just given them a ride) but I couldn't feel right about leaving Eric stuck up there to find his own way out having not been there before.

Plus we decided that none of those guys were very handy with any tools so it was best that somebody who knew how to wrench on a vehicle stayed to help out.

This kinda got followed up really quickly so I'm not sure if anyone got to read it when I posted it so I'll quote myself!

I am extremely pleased with this. I had an absolute blast. I hope everyone else had a good time as well. I would love to do this again. Next time we will have to pick a trail down closer to all of you guys. When I suggested this trip I didn't realize that Leslie and I were really the only people that lived even near this trail. Next time you guys can all make me suffer and drive way down south for a trail. But we definately have to do this again, if we can get a turn out like this again that would be phenominal.

Thanks again to everybody for driving all the way up here for a day of wheeling.

Yeah they did find one. They bought a "heavy duty" one. It took a whopping 10 minutes to fix after about 2 1/2 hours of waiting.
