Ordered new R&P & a master install kit...$370 down the drain That is more then I paid for the axle.

How was your pinion? Was it shimmed correctly when you put it all together? The backlash looks like it was probably ok, but it looks like the pinion needed a different shim.

Were your gears shot already? I wouldn't think you'd need to get all new gears already...

I never pulled the carrier when I bought the axle...it was already geared. The backlash itself feels a bit tight as is (haven't measured it). I have no idea if the gears were shot or not. Terry suggested I get new gears anyways since he has never reset gears that have been run already, who knows for sure if they have damage or not

At least this way I'll know for sure the gears & bearings are good and not question the setup.

On the plus side, Gears are nice to clean up and hang on the wall

Ahhh, I see. I guess I had figured you had regeared it when you got the axle- I didn't realize they were already done. When are you looking to have it all done?

How about... When are you looking to have the rear end completed and back underneath the Jeep?

Depends when Terry has some free time to help with another gear install. The parts should be here Wednesday so as soon as he has some time it'll be back under my Jeep...Only takes about 2 hours to do the swap.

Wow, been too long since I have updated this. Gears installed, 4.56 F&R, Aussie in the rear - all working great

My MT/R's are going fast so I bought some new tires from Scott (Colorado5.9) - 2 new and 3 used (1500 miles), couldn't pass it up

5 of em:

A bit over an inch difference:

Old vs new...and technically my spare (on the right) has more then twice as much tread as my current tires do:

Oh, they're 285/75-16 TrXus MT's.

Nice tires. Looks like I'll have to add an inch the next time around!

More lift? No way! Trim to fit

Next lift will be for long arms and I don't have cash for that right now :/
