Josh- you can buy a brand new D44 -hub to hub bolt in axle- with an ARB and alloy shafts for $2299 from drivetrain wharehouse. I'm looking at the add as I type this.

Not cheap, but a lot less that $3k.

I lucked out in a big way- Superior alloy shafts, D35, yukon gears and Ox locker for $350. The only other cost was a new Ox cable for $85. Granted it is not a D44, but it should be fine for my application.

As far as a D44 set up, Arlo got a good deal I would say. How is that Aussie going to act on the street? I locked mine and drove around the neighborhood and was chirping tires on every turn.


Axle looks killer man. Is it going in this week, or this weekend?

Not going to install it until I have my front gear stuff. Probably 2 weeks out, maybe less since this weekend is my birthday, will probably get some money for that

But does this include upgraded chromo shafts? That's why the Northridge one was a bit higher- basically had a Super44 in it.

Don't forget about the free education and Labor that was involved. Oh yeh and that really fun track bar mount.

Ryan that axle is shaping up. The WJ will be a new rig on the trail this year. Now you can get into even more trouble.

Yep, that is pretty much priceless. I would have broken a dozen tools and would have probably never been able to figure out the brakes.

Well about a month ago to the day I bought a house

Needless to say my monthly "rent" payment is doubling and turning into a "mortgage"...we'll call that $800/month less from my Jeep funds

So the second I put out a contract on the house I stopped all my Jeep spending.

I have a rear axle to throw in.
...But I need to regear the front (carrirer, master install kit, and gears)

I have u-jointed axle shafts up front ready to throw in.
...But need to get some custom inner shafts

And if I am going to u-joint the front and install a new carrier, I might as well upgrade to 30spline carrier/ARB locker wih the custom shafts. That'll keep my outer shafts 27 spline and hopefully the weak link.

I have trackbar issues I need to figure out...why am I all of a sudden eating through TB bushings after 400 miles? Is it the heat?

Ugh, at least I am up for some raises & a promotion in the next couple weeks to help offset the cost of the house.

I know the pain man. When I went from renting to owning, my payment doubled too. I mean to the penny doubled.

You listed a TON of stuff still to be done. Are you thinking 2007?

What size tires are you going to move up to?

I think I'll switch to some used 33's when I finally swap axles...hopefullyl this year I can still do the swap

Then next year when I hit LA's run 35's

I am realized that 32's are currently getting me to where I want to go in Colorado...the scenic places. I am wanting to design bumpers & throw a winch on before I do LA's so I HOPE that is my winter project...we'll see.
