How come you can't go wheeling?!?

That's a smarter idea than what I've been doing...

Still in the process of the build, so Jeep is still down. Right now getting ready to bite the bullet and get the lift ordered. This weekend I'm finishing up the rear corners, flares & tank, then sending it out for powder coat.

Hoping to be up and going in a couple months...have to by March.

Ryan your Jeep doesnt pass the roadside emissions machines?

My ZJ passed the roadside emissions truck this year so i didnt have to deal with my exhaust turndown and my 35" tires ( which are too big for the emissions machine )

Come down to where the humans live (read: not Boulder ), and you can drive by a mobile e-test van every once in a while. Pass the van twice 2+ months before renewal time and your emissions are considered tested. No visit to the geniuses at Air Care Colorado means no cringing while some kid just out of high school is trying to destroy your Jeep on the dyno.

Matt - they're not too big, you just heard from a wuss at the test station - 36" is their max.

Nope. I've been failed for my 35's as well. I luckily had a Jeep on my lot when that happened, so I yanked his rear tires and drove it over with 2 35's on the front & 2 stockers on the rear. As it reads on their site:

Quote:
An Important Note About Tire Size
Tires that are smaller than 17 inches or larger than 34 inches cannot be safely tested on the dynamometer.

Only vehicles with manufacturer-equipped undersized or oversized tires that do not fit safely on the dynamometer will be authorized by the state to undergo an idle test instead of a dynamometer test. Vehicles with tires larger or smaller than original equipment that do not fit safely on the dynamometer must be returned to stock condition for testing. Vehicles with non-original undersized or oversized tires will not receive authorization from the state for an idle test.

Wow...they changed their specs then. I'm sure I read on CO4x4 that 36 was the max. Might have been a few years ago.

Lame.

Good thing I have my 31s if anybody needs them. Speaking of which, I need to limp the ZJ past a van or 2 before tags come up again

Yeah, I'm generally on crack.

Last guy that sold to me cut it with Maalox though. You should really look into your supplier Ryan

Huh, mine can reach past the cladding a little. Good bit of info to know.

I would appreciate the numbers you have. Not in a rush about it or anything though.

It really got built to a stage where stuff "just works". I don't break anything really so I have been happy with what is on there. I am about to start collecting the parts for a front bumper build (going to try and hide the winch behind the grill - so ordering the winch first to build around it).

Plus, no knew malls have been built lately so nothing new to wheel out there
