I have an angle finder so I am hoping that I'll be able to measure all the angles and then when setting the new lengths, reset those angles to be the same. It won't be fun but I want a Jeep I am not scared of driving

I might take you up on that offer Eric

I just realized that I'll have to modify my TC skid plate...or I could sell it (to someone local) and make my own belly skid at the same time

Got DW pretty bad the other day - between 35-->42 I get a vibration in the steering wheel (that didn't change after I rotated my tires) and was triggering DW. Suspected trackbar bushing. Replaced it this evening and it looked fine. Checked all the TRE's and DLE's using Terry's new fancy method of removing them and they all looked good.

Lastly I checked my ball joints and they are moving up and down maybe 1/16" on the passanger side - I assume that is bad? Looks like I'll replace them while installing LA's.

My jaw hit the floor (driveway?) when Terry showed me how to get TREs to let loose. I was all ready to shatter my Harbor Freight puller

I'm thinking BJs are fried Ryan. Quite possibly your DW culprit.

We just did Ball joints in Mellow Yellows rig last weekend. I believe they are the same in his rig as yours. They are also the same as D44's use.

I can get those for $26 a side.

But I'm skeptical that the ball joints are your problem.

Check out these links
http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troub...ng/l/bl307.htm

http://www.tomorrowstechnician.com/A...ll_joints.aspx

It basically comes down to, there should not be much lateral movement in any of the different ball joint types, Up and down movement is often normal though.

I've seen new ball joints in some applications have up and down movement.

Beware of the technician that tries to sell you ball joints because of up and down movement, in some applications it is normal and alot of techs don't realize that.

So the question is, is that normal in Jeep ball joints?

Sorry i don't remember, service manual should have specs for it though.

Thanks for the words of caution Terry...I'll investigate some more this week. I have the feeling that it is something blatently wrong, not just a little out of spec/loose based on how reliable it happens. The vibration worries me since that appears to trigger it and rotating tires didn't change that at all. Also got back from Moab just fine w/o any wheel vibrations (just the DS vibration) and then all of a sudden, I had wheel vibrations & DW.

Recieved these:

Which unpackaged look like this:

Very nice kit so far - beefy and well built. All of the nuts are nylon locking nuts and some of the bolts have zerk fittings attached to them to grease the joints - top quality!

Rear bracket frame side for UCA/LCA's:
