Anyone own a Husky(or any other brand) cargo liner for there ZJ?
i wanna trace it onto a piece of wood so i can make myself a new (removable) Herculined floor for the cargo area of my ZJ. i want it to fit like a glove so i wanna trace somethin that already fits like a glove. Im gonna cut grooves in the bottom of it so it fits over those rubber runners on the floor of the cargo area... that way it will sit flat.
i wanna make another piece that fits in the area created when the backseat is folded down as well.. that one i wont be able to trace though.
It depends on when we decide to make them. My father has everything we'd need, but my brother is using some of the tools to build a deck for my sister. Really all that he has that we'd need is a circular saw I think.
Nick, we can make three. But I have zero desire to put my spare up top. I wouldn't fit into my parking structure, I'd lose some MPG, and I'd be more top heavy.

Here's the second revision. I changed some of the hinge locations because the original locations wouldn't have worked. I also extended the right hand storage area so it's just one longer compartment...possibly to fit axle shafts and larger items.
Nick, the bottom drawing is from the back, with the tire slid in under the shelf.

I'm ready when you fellas are....it'll have to be on a Saturday though...assuming it's a one day project. My summer softball league just kicked up and I'm pretty much tied up until the end of July.
if it was a for sure thing that we would be building these i could arrange it so i didnt have to work till 5 on saturday. But i dont want to take my afternoon shift off if this isnt going down... i guess ill wait for Ryan to reply
so i started doing some calculations and i just dont see your concept working right Ryan
the rear cargo area is 42" wide and 36" deep
subtract a 32" tire from that and you have 10" of room left over for storage on the sides and 4" of storage in the front
if you place the tire in the middle of the surface.. you end up with 5" on either side of the tire...subtract 1" for each board which makes up the walls of the storage boxxes and you end up with 3"x34" of storage space... 3" is not that much room at all
do the same for the front and you end up with 4"x32" of space
so you will have
TWO - 3"x34" storage boxes on either side of the tire minus whatever you use for air tank
ONE - 4"x32" storage box in the front of the tire..which if made removable becomes a 4"x30" space
- what are you going to fit in 3" of space besides a quart of oil?
- will your air tank & the mounting hardware fit in 4"-5" of space?
i think it would be better to push the tire to one side and build one (sectioned inside) box for storage which will have a usable space of 8"x34" (THREE 8"x10.3" areas after dividers are put in to section the inside)
then you can still put your 4"x35" storage box in the back near the seat if you want
sorry if this is all gibberish... it all makes sense in my head... i can draw something up if you want me to
I follow. I wasn't sure what the measurements in the back were. I don't think 8" is enough for my tank...I'll have to think something else up.
Oh, and I'm currently using an SUV storage box that fits perfectly between the tire behind the backseat. It's nice.
